Peugeot Citroën

The automaker PSA Peugeot Citroën has introduced its new 3-cylinder engine EB. This engine has several advantages: increased efficiency, lower emissions (combustion optimization through the bore / stroke ratio and the internal aerodynamics of the combustion chamber, and the reduction of friction) and less fuel consumption. The compactness of the engine was worked: using process model in Lost, optimization of industrial constraints of machining and assembly conveyor, weight gain (21 kg compared to EB2) and compromise between performance and function. CO2 emissions are 104 g / km for the 1.2 VTi EB2 and 99 g / km for IB0 1.0L VTi. Fuel consumption is reduced from 8 to 25%. It will develop a power of from 68 to 82 hp. This engine anticipates the applicable Euro 6 in 2014.

The material is aluminum crankcase pressure with liners inserted in the casting. The cylinder head is aluminum PMP with exhaust manifold and water outlet housing built. As for the oil pump, variable displacement is controlled by pressure. Each cylinder has 4 valves. The engine, manufactured in France, will create 500 jobs and 640,000 engines will be manufactured per year. Beautiful performance!
